CDS proprietary Call home

In 2004 CDS obtained an exclusive license to operate a proprietary call home and remote diagnostic system developed by Raytrix Corporation. The system is completely independent of the StorageTek micro code, operating system, and hardware, as it is a standalone processor with no reliance on the library in any manner.  While the original intent was to mimic the StorageTek remote  dial in capability, the initial release date was deferred to develop enhanced capabilities of call home, remote diagnostics, rapid configuration, automated error decoding, and user notification (via email, pager, or Blackberry). These enhanced features make the CDS/Raytrix system far superior to the StorageTek dial in only concept.

Call Home Operational Overview

When an error occurs within the library system, sense data is available at the library communication port. The CDS provided Service PC detects this sense data and transmits it to one of the CDS redundant operations centers. The LMT host system decodes the sense information, compares the results to the CDS knowledge base, which is used to develop the final FRU callout and service road map. This information is then transmitted VIA the CDS notification Router/Gateway to the technician, the technical support group and any group or individual defined by the customer. The information is also transmitted to the logistics department to ensure parts availability and restocking is initiated.
